Local products Will Dobson and Xavier Bertoncello scored as the Jets took down Sydney FC 2-0
After an end to end first half in which neither team could trouble the scoresheet, 18-year-old sensation and Newcastle local Will Dobson would finally get the Jets on the scoresheet. Dobson’s first effort would get saved, but the ball fell kindly back to him, allowing him to poke home to give his boyhood club the lead.
Fellow academy product Xavier Bertoncello would seal the result in the 84th minute, scoring his second of the season in spectacular fashion. Xavier would get the ball on the left flank, before cutting inside and curling the ball into the far bottom corner.
The Jets defence would hold out a late resurgence from Sydney FC, as they claimed their first clean sheet in the league this season. The Jets are back in action at McDonald Jones Stadium on Boxing Day, as they host Macarthur. Tickets available HERE.
