Macca’s City Cup recognised with Victorian Sport Awards nomination

Melbourne City is celebrating a proud moment off the pitch, with the 2025 Macca’s City Cup recognised as a finalist for Community Sporting Event of the Year at the Victorian Sport Awards.

The annual tournament has continued to grow as one of the standout junior football events in the country, bringing together clubs, players and families from across Australia for a weekend of competition, connection and celebration of the game at the City Football Academy, Melbourne – ctrl:cyber Campus.

Held in March last year, the Macca’s City Cup once again showcased the strength of grassroots football, providing young players with the opportunity to play in a professionally delivered tournament environment while building friendships and lifelong memories along the way.

The event has become a key fixture on the junior football calendar, reflecting Melbourne City’s ongoing commitment to developing the game at a community level.

This latest recognition highlights not only the scale and success of the tournament, but also its impact beyond the pitch.

Being named a finalist at the Victorian Sport Awards is a testament to the hard work of staff, volunteers, participating clubs and families who help make the Macca’s City Cup such a special event each year.

Winners will be announced at the Victorian Sport Awards ceremony later this year.
