Perth Glory is delighted to announce that homegrown young midfielder Giovanni De Abreu has signed a new deal which extends his contract with the club until June 2028.

The 19-year-old penned a scholarship deal last year having played his junior football with Sorrento FC, Perth RedStar and the PGFC Academy and duly made his A-League debut in December’s Round 9 clash with Adelaide United at HBF Park
The former Australia Under-17 and current Under-20 representative went on to become a regular starter in the ALM side, chalking up 17 appearances over the course of an outstanding campaign which culminated in him taking out the club’s DT38 Young Player of the Season Award.
Glory Football Director Stan Lazaridis has been hugely impressed by the way De Abreu has adapted to the demands of senior football.
“Gio has looked very comfortable at ALM level ever since making his debut,” he said.
“He has been a standout performer in what is a vital role which carries a lot of responsibility, showing great maturity and a fantastic attitude and work ethic.
“We have already seen glimpses of Gio’s huge potential and are really looking forward to watching him continue to develop as a player over the next two seasons.
“As a club, we are committed to providing a clear pathway for young WA players to represent their home-state club and Gio is yet another example of that commitment being fulfilled.”
Further squad announcements will be made shortly.
