Adelaide United were host members of the Netherlands national beach volleyball team at Coopers Stadium on Friday night, as special guests of Club owner Cor Adriaanse.
The Dutch athletes, in Adelaide preparing for next week’s Beach Volleyball World Championships, joined their compatriots Bart Vriends, Joshua Smits, and Technical Director Ernest Faber to watch United’s 2–0 win over Western Sydney Wanderers.
The visit offered a moment of connection for the Dutch contingent abroad, with the players and coaches sharing stories and photos on the pitch following the match.
“It was fantastic to meet the Dutch beach volleyballers and see their support,” said Vriends.
“It’s always special to have a bit of home with you on the other side of the world.”
The Dutch squad will remain in South Australia before heading west to compete in the global tournament, which begins on 14 November.
