In March 2024, 34-year-old Penrith FC President Lauren Gibson suffered a sudden cardiac arrest during a Nepean Football Association meeting.
Nepean FC Competition Manager Cheryl Lynch was there that night and recalls how immediate CPR and access to a defibrillator helped save Lauren’s life.
Lauren has since returned to football and was named the 2025 Football NSW Female Volunteer of the Year, with her story serving as a powerful reminder of why access to defibrillators and the confidence to use them is so important across our football community.
