A new season and a new look for Medin Memeti.
The exciting young City attacker will make the move to number 23 for the 2026/27 A-League Men’s campaign as he continues to establish himself as a regular member of Aurelio Vidmar’s squad.
Still just 19, Memeti already has 52 senior appearances and 12 goals to his name across all competitions, and will be looking to take another step forward following an impressive 2025/26 campaign.
From 50 to 23
Memeti’s first team journey began while he was still in the Academy, wearing number 50 and making his senior debut as a late substitute in our 2023 Australia Cup Quarter Final win over MetroStars in Adelaide.
After signing his first professional contract the following July, he locked in number 35 – a shirt City fans have become plenty familiar with over the past two seasons.
Now comes a new look.
50 → 35 → 23.
And there’s a familiar recent history attached to his newest shirt.
Memeti becomes the first City Men’s player to wear number 23 since Marco Tilio, who made the shirt his own across two memorable stints in Melbourne.
Tilio made 110 appearances and scored 26 goals in City colours, lifting five pieces of silverware along the way.
There’s also already a nice connection between our former and newest number 23s.
The two attacking talents shared the pitch nine times during their time together at City, with Tilio even providing the assist for Memeti’s second A-League goal, coming in a hard-fought away win against Sydney FC in March 2025.
Now, it’s Meds’ turn to take on the 23.
With another big season just around the corner, our young attacker will be hoping to create plenty of memories of his own in the shirt.
