The Wellington Phoenix will play host to Melbourne City to kick start the 2026-27 Ninja A-League.
As revealed exclusively on the A-Leagues app this morning, the two grand finalists will square off at Hnry Stadium on Sunday, October 18, five months on from last season’s championship decider.
The match will kick-off at 12:15pm and will be the first game of a double-header, with the Phoenix men to open their 20th season against Melbourne Victory from 3pm.
It promises to be a blockbuster start to the new women’s season with both the Phoenix and City having further strengthened their squads in the A-League off-season.
“We’re really excited to start our new season where we ended our last against City,” Phoenix head coach Bev Priestman said.
“For any fan this is a game you don’t want to miss.
“It gives us a chance to see where we’re at as a group right from the get go and being part of a double-header gives more fans the opportunity to come see the team play.”
The full Ninja A-League draw will be released at 10am tomorrow (Friday, August 21).
Wellington Phoenix memberships are available now, with tickets on sale from next month.
